Our Christmas News Letter

December 09, 2019

It was the night before our Christmas function and chaos simmered. The Santa Suite had washed pink, guests were cancelling by the hour and our caterer sat at home with no power. An event of this magnitude had never been attempted and I wondered to myself “Would this day be resented?” With all my Christmas Baubles in the air I could do nothing but contemplate the wet wintery air. It is December in Durban and in true Bright Eyes fashion, nothing was going to plan.

Spring has arrived and we are nestled into a brand-new routine. True to the season we are hatching a few new projects and I anticipate sharing the fruits of our labor with you very soon.

As we begin to layer up for the three days of winter in Durban, I am thrilled to start peeling back the layers of love and generosity we have experienced in term two. Our hearts are warmed, and I sincerely hope this letter will warm yours too.

Bright Eyes Family Day

Sat, 21 April was our first Family Day of 2018. It was a fantastic morning spent with all our little ones and their families at the DBN Botanic Gardens. Food, fun, and family: all our favourite things. Thank you to all our families for helping to make it a wonderful success, and bringing your fare to share. We look forward to many days like it,

Carron and Cathryn were recently honored at the Ethekwini Women in the Community Annual Awards Event for their outstanding contribution to bettering the lives of members of our community. Bright Eyes received an award and a special mention at the event- with special reference made to the 'Run Blind' Campaign launched in 2017.

New Team Member

We are thrilled to welcome the newest member to our Bright Eyes Team: Gloria.

Gloria comes to us from one of our partner agencies in the visually impaired community. With a wealth of knowledge and experience caring for visually impaired young children and a true love for her work- Gloria is a very warm, wonderful addition to our team.
